Privacy Policy

Note: this page is a plain-English template describing how the app works today. It is not legal advice — please have it reviewed by a lawyer before relying on it.
1. Overview
This policy explains what information Everyday Spanish (Panama Edition) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what we need to run a language-learning app — your account, your learning progress, and your subscription — and we do not sell your personal information.
2. Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign up, our sign-in provider Clerk handles your email address, name (if provided), and login credentials or social-login identity. We store an account identifier that links your data to your account.
- Learning data. Your lessons progress, flashcard decks, review history, streaks, XP, and settings are synced to our servers so they follow you across devices.
- Billing data. Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We receive your subscription status and plan, but never your full card details.
- AI feature usage. When you use AI-powered features we record usage metering (for example, how much of your allowance you have used) and the text needed to fulfil the request.
- Device-local data. Some preferences (such as daily reminder settings) stay on your device and are not synced.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to provide and improve the service: syncing your progress, processing subscriptions, generating practice content and audio, sending transactional email (such as account or billing notices) through Resend, providing tutor features you opt into, and keeping the service secure. We do not sell your personal information or use it for third-party advertising.
4. Service providers
We share data with a small set of processors, only as needed to run the service:
- Clerk — account sign-in and authentication.
- Stripe — payments and subscription billing.
- OpenAI — AI-generated practice content (for example, conversation preparation).
- ElevenLabs — cloud voice text-to-speech audio for pronunciation.
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
- Replit — application hosting and database infrastructure.
Text sent to AI providers is limited to what the feature needs (for example, the phrase to speak aloud). We do not send them your account email or billing details.
5. Data retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. If you want your account and synced data deleted, email us at connect@geteverydayspanish.com and we will delete it, except where we must keep records (for example, billing records required for tax purposes).
6. Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access to production systems is restricted, and passwords are never stored by us (authentication is handled by Clerk). No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you of any breach as required by law.
7. Children
The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced by email or in the app before they take effect, and the "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
